Classic Scotch Cocktail 32% ABV
The Rob Roy, Scotland’s Manhattan, is made using blended scotch with Italian vermouth and aromatic bitters. Thanks to the bartender at the New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel for mixing up the signature Rob Roy 1897 recipe. Maybe the drink was named after a Broadway play based on Sir Walter Scott’s 1817 novel Rob Roy or maybe after Robert MacGregor, the Scottish Robin Hood. The Rob Roy is feisty but memories might get fuzzy after too many. Enjoy straight up from a chilled Martini glass, garnished with orange zest.
Tasting Notes
On the nose: rich with smoky undertones, sweet and malty
On the palate: strong, sweet, chocolate and herbs
Finish: long-lasting, juicy and full-bodied
Preperation
Pour into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, stir well and strain into a cocktail glass; drop one dried orange slice into the cocktail; to finish it off, spray with the atomizer.
